Edit Message Template Category

Learn how to edit message template category in your WhatsApp business account. This guide covers essential steps to ensure a smooth setup, helping you change message template category.


To edit your message templates and change their categories, follow these straightforward steps to ensure your templates are organized according to your business needs.

You can change the category of message templates for the following types only: Simple, Media Carousel, Product Carousel, and Order Details. Categories cannot be changed for LTO, Catalog, SPM, MPM, or Order Status templates.

  1. Open Message Templates Screen:
    To start editing your message templates, access the Message Templates screen by following these steps:
    • Click on the Icon Navigation Card featuring the verified icon on your dashboard.
    • Alternatively, navigate through the drawer menu by selecting WhatsApp Business Account and then Message Templates.
  2. Click on Info:
    Find the message template for which you want to change the category. In the top right corner, click on the info icon.
  3. Message Template Category:
    In the template info, locate the card labeled Category, then click on the edit icon on the right side.
  4. Choose Category:
    Select the new category for your message template and click on Update Category to save your changes.
