Connecting WhatsApp Business Account

Learn how to link your WhatsApp Business Account with WhatsDiscuss for seamless communication and enhanced customer interactions.


We recommend you to connect WhatsApp business account from a desktop or laptop, because you currently cannot use existing Facebook Business Portfolio or existing WhatsApp Business Account from mobile devices.

Requirements

  1. Facebook Account:
    A Facebook account is essential for the WhatsApp Business Account connection process. If you're creating a new account, be aware that you may need to wait for about an hour before you can proceed.
  2. Facebook Business Portfolio:
    If you don’t have a Facebook Business Portfolio, you can create one during the WhatsApp Business Account connection process. You will need:
    • A website with your business name (this can be a simple one-page site).
    • Or a social media page (on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) with your business name in the title.
    • An email address (this can be a business email or a general service like Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, etc.).
  3. WhatsApp Business Account:
    If you don’t have a WhatsApp Business Account, you can create one during the connection process.
  4. WhatsApp Business Profile:
    You can create a new profile during the connection process if necessary. Ensure you have a phone number or landline number that isn’t already registered with WhatsApp.

Initiate the connection process

Once you have ensured you meet the requirements for connecting your WhatsApp Business Account, follow these steps to proceed with the connection:

  1. Open WhatsApp Account Screen:

    To access the WhatsApp Account screen, you can either:

    • Click on the Icon Navigation Card featuring the WhatsApp icon on your dashboard.
    • Alternatively, navigate through the drawer menu by selecting WhatsApp Business Account and then WhatsApp Account.
  2. Initiate the connection process:

    • On the WhatsApp Account screen, look for the option to Connect WhatsApp Business Account located at the bottom of the screen.
    • Click on this button to initiate the connection process.

On the opened screen, click on the Continue with Facebook button in the center of the screen.

Connecting Your WhatsApp Business Account

  1. Login with Facebook Account:
    If you're not already logged in, enter your Facebook credentials to sign in. Ensure you use the account associated with your business.
  2. Create New Facebook Business Portfolio:
    If you opt to create a new one, enter your Business Name, Business Email Address, Business Website or social media profile page, and Country—these details are required. The Address is optional; you can choose to provide it or leave it blank. Afterward, click on "Next" to proceed.
  3. Create New WhatsApp Business Account:
    If a WhatsApp Business Account already exists in your Facebook Business Portfolio, you can either select it or create a new WhatsApp Business Account. However, if you’re on mobile, you can only create a new account, as existing accounts cannot be selected.
  4. Add New WhatsApp Business Profile:
    If an existing WhatsApp Business Profile is available, you can select it; otherwise, you can create a new one. However, if you are on mobile, you must create a new WhatsApp Business Profile, as selecting an existing one is not permitted. If you're on desktop and the existing profile is not registered to WhatsApp Cloud API or WhatsApp On-Premises API, you can select it to proceed. Keep in mind that if the existing profile was verified more than 14 days ago, you’ll need to complete the verification process again. When creating a new profile, ensure you add essential details like your business category, time zone, and optional business description and website. Lastly, verify the profile if the previous verification has expired or if it’s a new profile.
  5. Verify Phone Number with SMS or Voice Call:
    Finally, verify your phone number by choosing to receive a verification code via SMS or a voice call. Enter the received code in the OTP field on the screen to complete the verification process.
